Rumors sweeping the Del Ray community have been confirmed that a plan to secede from the City of Alexandria has been prepared and is in the initial stage of implementation. This plan would reverse the long-standing annexation of the Town of Potomac into the city and restore the area to independent town status under Arlington County.

The Society to Preserve & Enhance the City’s Industrial Operations issued their second annual report today affirming continued progress in attracting industry of any sort to the city and outlining a host of opportunities that have arisen over the past year. This group was formed on April 1, 2008 by leading preservation organizations to focus on “the long neglected industrial underbelly of Alexandria.”

President Obama and Secretary Salazar announced that the Administration will expand oil and gas development and exploration on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) to enhance our nation’s energy independence while protecting fisheries, tourism, and places off U.S. coasts that are not appropriate for development.

The Bishop Ireton Crew team took home four championship cups this weekend winning the men’s, women’s, and combined overall trophies of the Cindy Cole Cup championship, and the Bishop’s Cup. The teams competing in the event included Walt Whitman, Holy Cross, Bishop O’Connell, Sidwell Friends, Blair, Walter Johnson, and Gunston Day School.
