Moran Takes Gavel Of Interior Appropriations Subcommittee
During Tuesday’s meeting of the House Democratic Caucus, Virginia Congressman Jim Moran (D-8th) was officially named Chairman of the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee. Agencies under the Interior Subcommittee’s purview include: the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of the Interior, National Forest Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Smithsonian Institute, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Holocaust Museum and the National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities.
“I appreciate the confidence my colleagues have placed in me to take on this role,” Moran said. “It is a humbling responsibility. I can’t imagine many things more important than playing a major role in protecting our environment and conserving our natural resources. The fact that the bill also includes funding for the arts and our native Americans will provide me a special source of satisfaction because these are issues I care deeply about.”
