Robin D. Roane has extensive background in hotel sales and association management
The Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association announces that Robin D. Roane has joined their staff as the new senior sales manager. Roane will concentrate on association and corporate markets as part of ACVA’s sales team.
Roane has a diverse background in hotel sales and association management, most recently working for the National Business Travel Association, based in Alexandria, for three years. As NBTA’s Membership Director she was successful in attaining and retaining a membership of over 3,000 representing Fortune 1000 companies. Prior to her time with NBTA, for 18 years she was an associate of Marriott International, Inc., where she held various positions, the last being Senior Account Executive for Texas Market Sales. In this role she was responsible for total account management representing over $8M in revenue for multiple properties to include seven different Marriott brands.
“With her wealth of experience in the industry and her passion for Alexandria, Robin is a major asset,” said Lorraine Lloyd, vice president of sales for the ACVA. “She will elevate the level of expertise for our sales team, and we look forward to her having an immediate positive impact.”
Throughout her career, Roane has been active in industry-related professional organizations. She served as Marketing & Advertising and Membership Director for the Houston Area Chapter of Meeting Professionals International, President of the Texas Business Travel Association and Secretary/Treasurer for the National Business Travel Association’s Chapter Presidents’ Council.
Continuing educations has been important to Roane, who received her CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) certification in 1998, CCTE (Certified Corporate Travel Executive) certification in 2005 and CTE (Corporate Travel Expert) designation in 2007. She holds a BS in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada/Las Vegas and an Associate Degree in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
Robin has been a resident of Alexandria for three years.
