Governor Announces Funding For Environmental Goals

[From: Rants]

More money thrown recklessly to agencies that do nothing about the pollution problems that are easiest to fix. For ten years I have been trying to get the state or Feds to get the cows out of my two rivers here in Southampton County.

Outrageous And Irresponsible

[From: Rants]

So, ACPS has spent $3000 to send two employees to Puerto Rico in order to find bilingual teachers!! Of course this doesn’t include salaries they were paid while on vacation.

Bilingual Teachers

[From: Rants]

It’s a little troubling that Alexandria schools has to travel all the way to Puerto Rico at an expense of almost $3000 to find decent bilingual teachers.

Let Teachers Teach

[From: Rants]

Rant by Steve Rogers

ACPS simply needs to allow teachers to teach. Teachers are being pulled out of classrooms for this distraction and that distraction and the students are suffering. Now Mort Sherman wishes to pull teachers away from planning lessons, coordinating with team members, grading work and assessments,

No School On Veterans’ Day

[From: Rants]

I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. J. Bill Jacobson and his remarks about Veterans’ Day. That the schools are even open and the day is treated like the other 179 school days is simply unconscionable. What happened to Veterans’ Day parades and events to honor the brave men and women who have worn and continue to wear the uniform of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard?

ACPS Should Recognize Veterans’ Day

[From: Rants]

Veterans’ Day is next week, and Alexandria City Public Schools expects their teachers to work. If there is one national holiday that affects every American, it’s Veterans’ Day. At this point in American history, I’m amazed at Alexandria’s attitude.

Congressman Moran & “Leadership” On BRAC

[From: Rants]

Jack Sullivan’s letter (October 24) praising Congressman Jim Moran for his so-called “leadership” in trying to get full occupancy of the new BRAC facility delayed pending the development of a traffic solution would be laughable if it weren’t so pathetic.

BRAC And The November Election

[From: Rants]

In a recent candidate forum, Rep. Jim Moran’s opponent, Mr. Murray, accused the congressman of being responsible for the BRAC building at Beauregard and Seminary Road in Alexandria. His only apparent evidence was that the facility is located in the middle of Moran’s district. It is a ridiculous charge and ignores completely the strenuous efforts the congressman has been making to delay the full use of the BRAC until adequate transportation solutions can be found and put in place.

School Board Budget Scam

[From: Rants]

I am in 100% agreement with Joe Shramm’s rant of October 15, 2010. Not only does the School Board want an unlimited, wide open budget, but today we learn that Superintendent Mort Sherman has spent over four million dollars in two years on “consultants”, at least one of whom, Betsi Shays, is the wife of a former Congressman from Sherman’s old state of Connecticut. The former Congressman might run for Governor, which means his buddy Mort, who gave Shay’s wife a big fat consulting contract, might stand a good chance of a getting a high ranking position in Connecticut someday.

Council, Man Up!

[From: Rants]

God bless our school super and chair. They don’t want a budget. The most expensive school system in the country, the least effective school system, want a free ride.
