The City of Alexandria continues to clean up debris from the severe storms on August 5, which brought down hundreds of trees and caused extensive damage throughout the City. Crews are still collecting debris from the curb and public rights-of-way, especially in Del Ray, Beverley Hills, and Northridge areas of the City.
Requirements for removal of tree debris from the curb and public rights-of-way will continue to be relaxed through this weekend. Next week, the City plans to return to its regular policy on debris collection. This policy requires residents to set out limbs no greater than 2-3 inches in diameter, cut limbs down to lengths no greater than four feet, and place them in bundles no heavier than 75 pounds for curbside collection.
It will take several more days for crews to clean up all debris from curbs and public areas, remove damaged trees and return the City to normal operations. As crews focus on finishing storm cleanup, some debris or trash collections may be missed or delayed. To report a missed collection, call the Solid Waste Division at 703.746.4410.
