A three-month police investigation has led to the arrest of a Lorton-area man on Sunday, September 19. In June, the Fairfax County Fire Marshals Office notified police of suspected child pornography observed inside a home in the 8300 block of Green Heron Way in Lorton.
Detectives followed up on the report; their investigation led to the issuance of 10 felony warrants. Those warrants were served on the evening of Sunday, September 19, after the suspect was involved in an earlier traffic crash.
Mark Barget, 51, of 8311 Green Heron Way in Lorton, was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. Barget works as a wrestling official, judging middle school and high school wrestling matches in the region. Detectives would like to hear from anyone who feels they have additional information in this case.
