United Community Ministries Named To List Of Top-Rated Nonprofits

United Community Ministries has been named to a new list of top-rated nonprofits by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews for nonprofit organizations.

The top-rated social service nonprofits list is composed of organizations that have received at least ten positive reviews from stakeholders, such as volunteers, donors, or clients. UCM has received 14 reviews to date. The reviews were posted as part of the campaign conducted by GreatNonprofits, in partnership with Guidestar and a coalition of nonprofit organizations.

“We are gratified to be able to honor UCM for its work fighting poverty, hunger, and homelessness,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits. “They deserve to be recognized for the support they have from their community of stakeholders.”

United Community Ministries is a private, non-profit, community-based social service agency that assists low-income families and individuals in Northern Virginia.  As a safety net in the community, UCM provides community members who have fallen on hard times with practical solutions to get back on their feet.  People who come to UCM receive the help and hope they need to develop skills for long-term self-sufficiency. In the fiscal year July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010, UCM provided life changing assistance to more than 14,000 people from over 5,000 families.

The entire list of top-rated social service nonprofits is available at GreatNonprofits’ review page on their site. This list can be used to find great nonprofits to support with your giving, volunteering, and patronage.
