Today is National Girls and Women in Sports Day, founded in 1987 in memory of Olympic volleyball player and women’s sports equality advocate Flo Hyman. The day has evolved into a celebration of past and current achievements by female athletes and an opportunity to reflect on the positive influence of girls’ and women’s sports participation and on the importance of equal sports opportunities for female athletes. Vehicles Needed
As part of the Spring Intersession program at Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School, students will be participating in a transportation fair. The school is looking for a wide variety of unique vehicles to line the parking lot adjacent to the school. The event will take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13.
