Because of the snow, the T. C. Williams High School winter sports seasons were cut short. The Titan basketball teams played two regular season Patriot District contests this week. The Boys defeated Lake Braddock, 54-29 and eeked out a victory over South County, 61-58. The girls beat Lake Braddock, 47-40 and lost to South County, 48-41.
Since forfeiting 12 wins because of two ineligible players, the T. C. boys basketball team has played three Patriot District contests and has won them all. Now, with a record of 3-15, they enter the Patriot District tournament in seventh place, with a District record of 3-9.
On Wednesday night, the Titans traveled to South County. Earlier in the year, with now disqualified Billy Rowland who was T. C.’s leading scorer, the Titans defeated the Stallions by two points. Last night, Titan senior forward Ryan Yates knocked in 22 points, leading all scorers. Teammates Chambers and Sitton contributed 13 and 12 points respectively, giving the Titans the win.
The Patriot District tournament will begin on Feb. 19 with games played on the higher seed’s court. The Titans will face the Atoms at Annandale at 7 p.m.
