On October 26, 2010, City Council approved a pilot program for food vendor carts on Market Square at City Hall. The program allows a maximum of eight vendor carts to sell food and beverages (non-alcoholic), and tables and chairs to accommodate patrons. A collaborative effort between the City and a group of Old Town restaurateurs work together to officially launch the program, which will begin April 1 and continue through October. The City selected five applicants to serve a range of lunch offerings and coffees. The five vendors are Bread and Chocolate, Columbia Firehouse, Fontaine, Grape and Bean, and Union Street Public House. The City is still seeking applicants to fill three additional vending cart spaces, and interested businesses are encourage to apply.
