As the summer comes to a close, reality sets in that I have to go back to school at Virginia Wesleyan, and my internship at alexandrianews is ending. I have had a great summer here, and have learned a lot of useful information that will help me in my classes this upcoming semester and in life.

It’s been a year since I last wrote for alexandrianews.org. I was off at school studying journalism at Northwestern University, and now that I’m back, I appear to be the most senior writer other than Carla, which is a scary thought.

Coming to Alexandria, having only visited the D.C. area twice on middle school field trips, I had no idea what to expect. Within the first couple of days I realized that Alexandria was, in fact, its own city.

Ever since I started college, I have considered studying abroad. It's always been in the back of my mind, but I never thought I would follow through. This past winter, my parents finally convinced me to take advantage of the opportunity before my senior year.
