Over 250 people attended the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce annual Chairman’s Gala at the Westin Hotel located at 400 Courthouse Square in Alexandria, VA. New this year was a theme of “Giving Back” in the form of donations to five local charities including the Campagna Center, Carpenter’s Shelter, Rebuilding Together Alexandria, United Way of the National Capital Area and the Alexandria Animal Welfare League. Web-based voting enabled contributors to place votes for their favorite charity with each vote equating to a $10 donation.

The Chamber’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Andrew Palmieri of Saul Ewing commented, “The Alexandria Chamber is best known for its effective advocacy and business networking. These important member benefits are driven by our collective goal to make Alexandria the best possible community in which business owners, their employees and customers, and their respective families, can live, work and thrive in their lives. This includes working with our local charities to elevate the conditions and opportunities for those of us who need a hand.”

The winning charity which received the most votes was announced at the conclusion of the Gala. It was the Campagna Center’s Tammy Mann who accepted the $2,500 check. Ms. Mann replied, “The Campagna Center is extremely grateful to all who contributed to the Give Back Contest, not just to support Campagna being named the Award-Winning Charity, but all five of the organizations. I know that the Chamber has a long history of supporting local charities, and it was wonderful to see Andrew Palmieri include the nonprofit sector in such a visible manner as he takes the helm of the Chamber.”

Members of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce serving on the Gala Committee volunteered hundreds of hours on this event. Lead by Event Chairman, Adron Krekeler of Krekeler Brower Wealth Advisors, these individuals contributed their time and talent to produce a successful event for the Chamber and these charities. “It was gratifying to see the Alexandria business community’s support for the Giving Back Gala and the five charities we honored. From the opening of the doors to the last dance the Gala was a grand party and a celebration of the charitable proclivity of the community.”
