McDonnell Announces Appointment Of Linda C. Jackson To Director Of Department Of Forensic Science

Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that he has appointed Linda C. Jackson to succeed Department of Forensic Science Director Peter M. Marone, who will retire at the end of February 2013. Ms. Jackson joined the DFS staff in 1995 and is a forensic expert specializing in the field of controlled substances analysis. Since 2008, she has served as the Department’s Chemistry Program Manager with responsibility for the technical aspects of controlled substances, toxicology and trace evidence services.

In accordance with his verbal directive on Monday, Governor Bob McDonnell issued Executive Order 56 today establishing a multidisciplinary task force to review school and campus safety in light of the horrific and senseless murders that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on Dec. 14. He has also established a separate mental health workgroup chaired by Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and Secretary of Health and Human Resources Dr. Bill Hazel.
