Alexandria City Councilman Rob Krupicka filed a Statement of Organization yesterday to set up his campaign committee as a candidate for the 45th District House of Delegates seat for which Del. David Englin will not seek re-election.
Englin made his announcement at the April 2, meeting of the Alexandria Democratic Committee, saying that he wished to concentrate on repairing his relationship with his estranged wife. Krupicka told a number of media outlets that he was interested in running for the seat in Nov. 2013, but made it official yesterday, although the election will not be held until November, 2013.
Krupicka has served on City Council since 2003, and announced that he would not seek re-election when he ran in 2009. He ran for the 30th District Senate seat, which was previously held by retiring State Senator Patsy Ticer in 2011. Former Delegate Adam Ebin defeated Krupicka in the Democratic Primary in August and ultimately was elected in November.
