Superintendent Announces Executive Level Resignation

Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Morton Sherman today announced that Deputy Superintendent for Planning and Support Operations, Margaret B. Byess has resigned effective May 25, 2012.  Currently Byess oversees human resources, pupil transportation, school nutrition services, and facilities operations.  She has served the division for five years.  During the transition, supports will be established to cover each of the areas over which Byess had charge.

    Is this resignation connected to the misappropriation of funds? Several persons in top postions that had monetary responsibilities have resigned since the misappropriation of funds was discovered. When will we hear the results of the audit?
