July has been a good month for Alexandria based reggae band FeelFree: they were named DC Deli’s band of the month and have begun their first East Coast tour. They will be back in the DMV for their final performance of the summer on Aug. 2, at Jammin’ Java.

The band has been together since George Washington Middle School: Evan Hulehan, guitar, vocals, keyboard; Andrew Pfeiffer, guitar, vocals, trombone; Bryan Frank, drums; Garrett Clausen, bass, keys and Colin Cantfil, trumpet, Keyboard. Since 2010, their following has grown steadily as they have spent summers performing locally and recording original tracks in their home studio.

They began the summer of 2013 with successful performances at Alexandria’s Fish Market, the Rock N Roll Hotel in DC and a performance at the Evening Star and Majestic Café also in Alexandria. They are currently in the middle of a ten-day tour, which began in NYC and will take them to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the Outer Banks and UVA.

After their Aug. 2, performance at Jammin’ Java, they will head to the studio to record new material. Then, it is back to college for a final year for three of the band members and a community service project for Pfeiffer, who graduated from Wesleyan in May.
