The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce welcomed in its 2016 Board Chairman Robert Shea of Grant Thornton LLP with a nautical themed Chairman’s Community Reception on Jan. 20.
Held at Blackwall Hitch in Old Town, the event featured custom hand rolled cigars from Pucho Cigars that were enjoyed at the terrace level fire pit, a signature cocktail called "The Shea," delicious food, exciting Silent Auction items and the who's who of Alexandria business, all of which helped to celebrate the Chamber’s 110th year. Despite the surprise snowstorm, over 160 guests came out to celebrate and Set Sail with the Chamber.
The event was a lively evening of food, networking and excitement. Attendees included those living and/or working in the Capital Region and doing business in Alexandria. It was an evening about making connections while networking with community and political leaders. Nautical-themed restaurant Blackwall Hitch provided the perfect setting for this three hour tour.
“Alexandria is the crown jewel of Virginia and I am honored to lead the Chamber in its 110th year. The Chamber has had a long and proud history in this City. Today’s Chamber is the culmination of each and every past Chair’s achievements and vision. I am thrilled to stand here before you as the 2016 Board Chairman and look forward working with President & CEO Joe Haggerty and our 2016 board to navigate the Chamber through our next chapter,” Shea said.
