Beyer Overwhelmingly Re-elected

Virginia’s Eighth Congressional District voters sent Democrat Don Beyer back to Congress for a second term last night by a 40-point margin. Beyer received 68.36% of the vote; Republican Charles Hernick got 27.29% of the vote; and Independent Julio Gracia received 4.07% of the vote.

As expected, the City of Alexandria voted overwhelmingly Democratic in today’s General Election: Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine got 75.89% or 57,147 votes; incumbent Democratic Congressman Don Beyer got 71.76% or 52,573 votes.

According to Alexandria General Registrar Anna Leider, as of Oct. 26, 2016, there are 91,550 active registered voters in Alexandria. This is up from 85,900 active registered voters at the same time in 2012.
