The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra announces its Executive Director, Paul A. Frank, passed away on Monday, March 13, after a brief bout with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Frank joined the ASO staff in the fall of 2016 after working with the McLean Orchestra and other regional arts organizations.

Mr. Frank was the founding Principal of Paul A. Frank Consulting, which specialized in helping organizations set and implement their goals.  Prior to establishing his consulting service, he served as CEO of the Collingwood Library and Museum, Executive Director for the Friends of the Torpedo Factory Art Center, and most recently, Interim Executive Director for the McLean Orchestra.

Active in community groups and leadership roles, Mr. Frank participated in the chambers of commerce for Alexandria, Greater McLean, Fairfax County and Mount Vernon-Lee. He was also active in the Alexandria Rotary Club and Alexandria Arts Forum.

“On behalf of the ASO Board of Trustees, the musicians and staff, we are deeply grieved by the passing of Mr. Frank,” President Ronal Butler commented.  “He was an influential member of the community, a passionate advocate for the arts, and he will be greatly missed.”

The ASO will honor Mr. Frank with a moment of silence at its upcoming April performances.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made in his name to the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra or the McLean Orchestra.
