U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (VA-8) stopped by the United Community Ministries' Sacramento Neighborhood Center on Friday, Aug. 4, to visit with youth participating in educational and enrichment activities this summer. His visit included a tour led by Daniel Gulino, UCM Manager of Children, Youth, and Family Services, and time for the students' questions including "What do you like best about being a Congressman?" and "What is your favorite sport?" Beyer told them he liked hiking.

On National Night Out, the center celebrated with an ice cream social. Thanks to generous support from the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club, youth at the Sacramento Center and at Creekside Village Community Center have enjoyed special summer field trips including the National History Museum, Wolf Trap Children's Theater in the Woods for the FLY Dance Company: Music from the Heart show, and George Washington's Gristmill.

Through Aug. 14, United Community Ministries is accepting new backpacks and financial donations for school supplies to outfit 500 students for the new school year. Visit  www.ucmagency.org  for details.
