Environmental Action Plan Kickoff Meeting – December 4

On Monday, Dec. 4, the City of Alexandria will host a meeting to discuss updating its Environmental Action Plan. The meeting will be held at City Hall (301 King St.) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., in Sister Cities Conference Room 1101. The meeting will also be streamed live from alexandriava.gov/Eco-City, and City staff will solicit input and answer questions from in-person attendees and online viewers during a public discussion period.

The Environmental Action Plan is the City’s blueprint for creating a thriving, sustainable community. The first phase of the update will focus on updating five key focus areas:

• Global Climate Change
• Land Use and Open Space
• Energy
• Green Building
• Solid Waste

During the kickoff meeting, members of the public will have the opportunity to offer suggestions and ask questions about the plan, its progress, and the update process.

In June 2009, the City adopted the comprehensive Environmental Action Plan 2030, aimed at achieving the vision and principles set forth in the City’s Eco-City Charter and ensuring the City continues to move toward environmental sustainability.
