According to the United States Department of Agriculture, approximately 10 million households suffered from food insecurity over the past year in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania combined.

To help combat hunger relief in these states, and as part of the company’s community outreach efforts known as “Morgan Cares,” 200 employees of Morgan Properties – the nation’s 25th largest apartment owner volunteered at the Virginia Peninsula, Fredericksburg, Capital Area, and Maryland Regional Food Banks to help administer meals to those in need. Morgan Properties recently purchased The Shops at Mark Center and six apartment complexes in Alexandria’s West End.  Morgan Properties’ Maryland and Virginia regional team helped sort and pack over 66,000 pounds of food and prep over 21,000 meals, to supplement over 26,000 people in approximately 6,706 households across Northern and Hampton Virginia, Washington D.C. Metro Area., and Baltimore.

“We have a long history of partnering with local organizations to improve lives and strengthen the fabric of our society, and we look to  future efforts to volunteer with causes that benefit our local communities,” said Carol Jackson, Morgan Properties Maryland/Virginia Area Vice President.
