The T. C. Swim & Dive team – both the girls and boys squads – took second place overall in the Gunston District Swim/Dive Championships on Jan. 26-27. District powerhouse West Potomac took top honors to be crowned Gunston District Champions. The Titans’ finish as District Runners-Up is the highest placement for the team in decades. In total, 17 T. C. swimmers and four divers qualified for the upcoming regional championships.

Three Titans won their individual events to earn the title District Champions. Freshman Ronan Lauinger won both the Boys 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke events. For the T. C. girls, sophomore Mackenzie Prall won the 500 Freestyle race and freshman Myla Rice won the 100 Backstroke event.

In the last event of the meet, the T. C. boys 400 Freestyle relay (Hardimon, Sample, Lauinger and Huber-Wilker) fought a ferocious battle against the West Potomac boys,  with the T. C. team slashing over 10 seconds off their previous best time in a race that went down to the wire. The Wolverines edged the Titans by 2 seconds. In the girls’ race, the T. C. girls 400 Free relay (Prall, Pesante, Greenwood, Rice) dropped over 7 seconds for their best race of the season. Their second place finished clinched the runners-up title for the girls' team at the meet.
