The Alexandria Commission for Women and the Friends of the Alexandria Commission for Women will be hosting a “Tribute to the Honorable Patsy Ticer”.

“There are few women who have had a more profound influence on Alexandria than Patsy Ticer.  As the first woman Mayor of Alexandria as well as a State Senator, Patsy dedicated her life to those less fortunate and to making our community a better place to live and work” said Kendra Marello, Chair of the Alexandria Commission for Women. “It is outstanding that we can take the Salute to Women Awards into a Salute to Patsy this year.  According to Patsy, ‘education is the most important equalizer’.  She launched the Scholarship Fund for Alexandria in 1988.”

The event will be held on Monday, March 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. Tickets are $50 and proceeds will support the issues that Ticer believed in and worked tirelessly for during her impressive career in public service.

“This celebration in honor of Patsy will be spectacular with many memories of what she did for Alexandria and the Commonwealth” according to Pat Miller, Chair of the Friends of the Alexandria Commission for Women. “For more information and to purchase tickets, visit our web site at FriendsofAlexWomen.org.”
