Holiday tree on the Avenue in Del Ray

The annual Del Ray Holiday Kickoff is on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square. The kickoff event includes the lighting of the tree and Menorah, holiday songs led by Kate Moran, hot chocolate, and photos with Santa. Bill Blackburn and Mike Anderson have donated a beautiful 25-foot tall tree to anchor the holiday festivities in Del Ray.

Over 2,000 luminaries will light up Mt. Vernon Avenue in memory of Nancy Dunning. Every year since Nancy's death, in her memory, Del Ray Business Association has also collected items for Carpenter's Shelter.

Stroll the Avenue and check out the many businesses with decorated hand-painted windows. There are 12 decorated trees that will be competing for the Best Decorated Tree. Nonprofits have done the decorating and will be competing for a cash prize based on votes.
