The Hotel Indigo Old Town Alexandria is opening its public space to women-owned, local businesses for a Holiday Pop-Up Series beginning the weekend of Nov. 10-11 through Dec. 1-2. Visitors can shop for jewelry and clothing from local artisans, getting their holiday shopping done early and participating in Small Business Saturday on Nov. 24 and supporting a local charity.

A portion of proceeds from the pop-ups will be donated to Act for Alexandria, an organization which distributes grants for revitalization of the Alexandria area and community. Vendors featured include Little Black Skirt, Gallery of Indonesia, Second Daughter, Mom & I by EK. The Holiday Pop-Ups will run from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in the library off of Hotel Indigo’s lobby with the exception of Second Daughter’s pop-up on Nov. 24-25 which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The first weekend’s pop-up on Nov. 10-11 features Little Black Skirt, which offers luxurious and customizable skirts at an affordable price. Little Black Skirt will have accessories and sample skirts available for sale at a discount and will be taking custom orders for skirts.

Gallery of Indonesia’s pop-up on Nov. 17-18 will include a demonstration of Indonesian Batik Painting, a form of cloth dyeing which uses hot wax to create patterns. Owner Mey Hasibuan will demonstrate how the patterned cloth used for clothing is made.

For Small Business Saturday, Second Daughter will pop-up on Nov. 24-25, showing off jewelry that owner and artist Jessica Speckhard describes as embracing both minimalism and maximalism.

Popping up on Dec. 1-2 is Mom & I by EK, a mother-daughter-run jewelry company with pieces inspired by handmade Turkish designs. Mom & I by EK hires women in Turkey who hand-make the jewelry, helping them support themselves and their communities.

Pop-Up Schedule

Hotel Indigo partnered with Pop-up ALX to highlight local vendors who don’t currently have their own storefronts. Pop-up ALX arranges pop-ups around Old Town Alexandria, allowing vendors to test the Alexandria market without making long-term commitments. The program is run by the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership with the help of local property owners, brokers, and business community members.
