American Red Cross- Sound the Alarm, Safe a Life Pre-Canvassing and Rally-Dec. 10-12 & 15, 2018 
Volunteers needed for pre-canvassing and/or the rally to join us for our next Sound the Alarm, Safe a Life rally in the City of Alexandria, Del Ray neighborhood. You will be distributing door hangers to residents and homes advising of our upcoming Sound the Alarm installation event on Saturday, December 15th. Come spend a couple of hours walking with a partner, at your convenience on December 10, 11, or 12, 2018. Volunteers are also needed to install free smoke alarms and replace batteries in existing alarms on December 15th.  Register online. 

Friends of Duncan Library Book Sales-Through Dec. 31, 2018 
Volunteers needed to help with the Duncan Library book sales, which help fund library programs. No experience is necessary. Anyone aged 12 + is welcome to participate. We will sign verification forms for students needing service hours. Register online.

Volunteer Alexandria-Wreaths Across America-Dec. 15, 2018 
Join us on National Wreaths Across America Day December 15, 2018. Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.  Arts on the Horizon-“Mr. Bear 2018” Volunteers-Nov. 29-Dec. 15, 2018 
AOTH is seeking volunteers to help with front of the house for their exciting “Adventures with Mr. Bear!” show on Quaker Lane in Alexandria. Come greet people tall and small, and guide them into the fun lobby and theatre. Register online.

Capital Food Bank-Meals Distribution Volunteers-Dec. 14-15, 2018 
Volunteers needed to help set up tables, unpack and distribute food to client or assist with clean up. We are also seeking to place 12 enthusiastic individuals for a long-term volunteer role at a new feeding program in Alexandria. Register online.

Community Toy Drive-December 2018 
Volunteers needed to assist with the Holiday Sharing Family Gift Distribution to check-in gifts, check-out for families picking up gifts, transportation, and reminder calls to sponsors. Spanish speakers encouraged. Register online.

The Holiday Project-Share the Spirit of the Season!-through Dec. 25, 2018
Visit with patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities. Distribute cards and gifts and spread seasonal cheer. Caroling optional. Bring the spirit of the season to those who otherwise might not have a celebration. Register online.

Meade Memorial Episcopal Church-Saturday Hot Meal-Ongoing through Spring 2019 
Be a part of Meade Memorial Episcopal Church mission to serve those in need. Partner by becoming a volunteer and serve hot meals to Alexandria’s vulnerable residents. DC Central Kitchen provides meals and volunteers ONLY need to re-heat and serve meals on Saturday between 12:30p.m.-1:30p.m. Register online.
