Alexandria Families for Safe Streets-Dec. 15, 2018- 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. 
Volunteers needed to help AFSS distribute educational materials and collect data for a “Near Miss” survey at the market.  Register online.

Space of Her Own Volunteer Mentors Urgently Needed 
SOHO has an urgent need for 4 adult female mentors to start immediately. Two mentors are needed on Tuesday evenings and two on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Mentors and girls meet once a week to enjoy dinner together and work on creative arts and carpentry projects. Volunteer Alexandria-Toy Pick-Up-Dec. 12 & 13, 2018 
Volunteers with large size vehicles needed to pick up bins and toys during the day, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Dec. 12 & 13 throughout Alexandria. Volunteers will receive a list of locations close to each other or with the same pick up day. You will deliver items to Cora Kelly Recreation Center in Arlandria and store in a POD. Volunteers are needed to install free smoke alarms and replace batteries in existing alarms on Dec. 15Register online.

Capital Food Bank-Meals Distribution Volunteers-Dec. 14-15, 2018 
Volunteers needed to help set up tables, unpack and distribute food to client or assist with clean up. We are also seeking to place 12 enthusiastic individuals for a long-term volunteer role at a new feeding program in Alexandria. Register online.

Community Toy Drive-December 2018 
Volunteers needed to assist with the Holiday Sharing Family Gift Distribution to check-in gifts, check-out for families picking up gifts, transportation, and reminder calls to sponsors. Spanish speakers encouraged. Register online.

Friends of Duncan Library Book Sales-Through Dec. 31, 2018 
Volunteers needed to help with the Duncan Library book sales, which help fund library programs. No experience is necessary. Anyone aged 12 + is welcome to participate. We will sign verification forms for students needing service hours. Register online.

Volunteer Alexandria-Wreaths Across America-Dec. 15, 2018 
Join us on National Wreaths Across America Day Dec. 15, 2018. Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.
