The historic Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia, will hold its 2nd annual Feed the 5,000 service project to supply a week’s worth of free groceries to more than 1,300 needy families at locations across the city. More than 400 congregants, friends and family have volunteered to help package and distribute food that includes eggs, produce, cereal, rice, fruit, potatoes, baked beans, and peanut butter & jelly, among other items. Families will also receive frozen whole chickens.
