Today, the full Senate defeated by a vote of 25-14 the bill by Senator Mark Obenshain (R-Harrisonburg) bill to require political party affiliation to be listed on ballots in local elections.

Absentee voting opens to eligible voters on Friday, Jan. 20 for the March 6 Republican Presidential Primary. Many Alexandria voters are eligible to vote absentee, but relatively few take advantage of this option. There are several qualifying circumstances.
