The Alexandria Democratic Committee will hold the first of two primary debates among the Democratic candidates for Alexandria City Council on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 7:00 pm. The debate will take place at Francis C. Hammond Middle School Auditorium (4646 Seminary Road; Alexandria, VA) and will feature Bob Gibson, Executive Director of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia as the debate moderator. The event is free and open to the public.

By Carla Branch alexandrianews.org Democratic Candidate for Alexandria City Council Boyd Walker has paid his delinquent real estate taxes. Walker, who owed the City $16,544.84 in delinquent real estate taxes on his property at 1307 King Street, paid the entire amount yesterday.

On Tuesday, June 12, there will be a Republican Primary for U.S. Senate and a Democratic Primary for U.S. House of Representatives and Alexandria City Council. There is no party registration in Virginia, however, voters may only vote in one primary and are required to express their political party ballot choice.

According to the city of Alexandria real estate assessment website, Democratic City Council Candidate Boyd Walker owes $16,544.84 in delinquent real estate taxes on the building he and his ex-wife own at 1307 King Street. The last payment the City recorded was for the first half of 2010.
