Alexandria Democrats Sweep City Council Races

For the third consecutive election, Alexandria Democrats hold the Office of the Mayor and all six City Council seats. Voters also elected four incumbents to the Alexandria City School Board and five newcomers. U.S. Attorney Announcement On 2018 Midterm Elections – Alexandria

On Nov. 1, U.S. Attorney G. Zachary Terwilliger announced that Assistant U.S. Attorney James P. Gillis will lead the efforts here in connection with the Justice Department’s nationwide Election Day Program for the midterm elections on Nov. 6. Gillis has been appointed to serve as the District Election Officer for the Alexandria Division of the Eastern District of Virginia.

Alexandria Voter Turnout Up

November 6, 2018

Despite the rain, Alexandrians are coming to the polls in larger numbers than in 2017. At noon, including in-person absentee ballots and mailed absentee ballots that have already been received by the Registrar’s Office, 42,455 Alexandrians have voted. This is 45.02% of Active Registered Voters.

Alexandria Absentee Voting, Voter Registration Up

In-person absentee voting in Alexandria ended Saturday with 6,452 people voting. This is an increase of 65% from those who cast in-person absentee ballots last year.
