New City Signage Reflects Lifted Parking Restrictions During Winter Months

The City of Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services has updated signs in the City to reflect that "No Parking" restrictions related to street sweeping will be lifted for four months. The change in enforcement begins Nov. 1, with the end of City street sweeping for the season.

City Of Alexandria Launches Landmark Mall Re-Planning Process

The Landmark Mall Re-Planning Process, identified as a priority of Alexandria City Council’s approved Fiscal Year 2019 Long-Range Planning Work Plan, will officially launch with a community meeting on Nov. 14. Alexandria 2018 Second Half Real Estate Tax Bills Mailed

October 25, 2018

The City of Alexandria has mailed bills for the second half 2018 real estate tax, refuse fee and stormwater utility fee to all property owners and/or mortgage companies. Payments are due Thursday, Nov. 15. Late payment penalty and interest will be assessed on all real estate taxes and fees that are not paid or postmarked by the due date.

The City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts is in search of a Poet Laureate to promote an appreciation of poetry as an art form, promote creative writing and reading of literature, and promote literacy through poetry. The individual will serve as Poet Laureate for three years and receive a modest annual honorarium.

The Alexandria City Council unanimously appointed Joanna C. Anderson as City Attorney on Oct. 23, effective immediately. Anderson has served as Acting City Attorney since Sept. 11. She succeeds James L. Banks, who resigned on Sept. 7 to accept a position with another organization.

Alexandria City Council Approves 7 ½ -Year Lease Extension On Cameron Run Regional Park

The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority has leased Cameron Run Regional Park from the City of Alexandria since 1981. That 40-year lease was scheduled to end on July 1, 2021, until Oct. 13, when City Council voted unanimously to extend the lease until Dec. 31, 2028.
