Alexandria Cancer Survivor To Participate in Breathe Deep 5K

A local Alexandria lung cancer survivor will be walking in this Sunday’s LUNGevity Foundation’s Breathe Deep DC 5K at the Washington Monument.

Chip Kennett, 33, is a father of two, who survived Stage 4 lung cancer. The walk is to raise awareness and donations for lung cancer research and to kick off Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

Kennet’s journey started in the fall of 2012 when he went to see a doctor about a burry spot in his eye. He was brought in for an MRI which showed cancer in his right eye and a PET scan showed cancerous cells in his lungs, liver, lymph nodes and bones. He was given one to two years to live. This October will be the second anniversary of his survival.

LUNGevity’s Breathe Deep DC Walk will take place on the National Mall at 15th St. and Independence Ave. SW, Washington D.C. 20024 on Sunday Nov. 2. Check-in beings at 9 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m.
