The Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority is at it again with its partners at the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities and Alexandria City Public Schools in bringing holiday cheer to thousands of deserving children and youth with the 5th Annual Winter Wonderland Festivities.
Keeping true to form and philosophy of building community partnerships and people's spirits, ARHA is ready to serve thousands of children in need again this year at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, Dec. 18 from 5 p. m. until 8 p. m. with toy distribution. Children will receive up to two toys, stocking stuffers and books, the gift of literacy. There are a number of festive activities including performances open to the community beginning Monday, Dec. 15 and lasting until the end of the week.
Giving is a big part of building community and this is exactly what will be done during the Winter Wonderland. Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority and its partners set an excellent example of servant leadership each year with its annual event.
The event began five years ago with the debut of the replica of Wonderland, complete with townhouses and workshops skillfully crafted by ARHA dedicated staffers/elves. Thousands of children have benefited from the generosity of Alexandrians and the business community at large.
