Former Security Contractor CEO Agrees To Pay $4.5 Million To Settle Civil Claims

Keith Hedman, 55, of Arlington, Virginia, the former chief executive officer of a Virginia-based security contracting firm, Protection Strategies, Inc. has agreed to pay $4.5 million to settle civil claims relating to his involvement in a fraudulent scheme to create a front company to obtain contracts through the Small Business Administration’s Section 8(a) program.

Murphy To Remain Hospitalized

Greg Murphy, the man accused of murdering eight-year-old Kevin Shifflett in Alexandria in April, 2000, will remain hospitalized at Central State Hospital. Murphy was found not competent to stand trial for that murder in 2000 and has never been restored to competency.
