JBG Named Washington’s Top Workplace

The JBG Companies last night was named the large-company 2014 Top Workplace in the Washington area. The Washington Post recognized 150 area companies in total; three were named the top winners in their size categories.

JBG was honored as the Top Workplace in the large-company category after an extensive employee survey process. The recognition is awarded annually to workplaces of all types—private, public, nonprofit and government—with at least 50 employees.

“We are honored to be named the Top Workplace for large companies in Washington. JBG is constantly striving to be a workplace that attracts and retains the best talent in the real estate business by providing professional satisfaction and a work-life balance that supports excellence,” said David Paul, a JBG partner. “To be recognized as one of the best places to work in Washington by The Washington Post is wonderful validation of these efforts.”

Employees of nominated companies participated in blind surveys that assess workplace atmosphere, pay and benefits, job satisfaction, communication and other workplace qualities. Honorees are judged based on national performance benchmarks in these areas.

Among JBG’s workplace attributes are extensive training and professional development opportunities; a family leave policy for maternity, paternity, adoption and surrogacy; a Lion’s Pride initiative that seeks to build strong work-family connections; JBG Cares, a corporate giving program that encourages volunteerism; and a corporate culture that seeks and values input and good ideas from team members at all levels.

Results from the Workplace Dynamics employee survey conducted for the award review show that JBG scores well above the national average for real estate companies in many categories, including pay and benefits, values and ethics and employee appreciation.
