Memorial Day weekend brought a lot of visitors to the Old TownPpool and the new parking lot. This past week also saw the installation of more millwork such including the science labs.

It also brought a lot more paint with each section of the building developing its own identity. The photo shows the wide variety of colors and materials we reviewed for both paint and furniture. This building will be verycolorful!  Each Extended Learning Area will be highlighted with a particular color as will each set of two grade levels and the early childhood wing.  The outside will be mostly brick and fit in with the surrounding neighborhood.  The inside, however, will be bright, colorful and very modern!  In addition to all of the colors, flat screens with digital images will replace all corridor bulletin boards and digital clocks, like the ones recently installed in Hammond, will replace all of the round analog clocks.  We are doing everything we can to make this a School of the Future and we cannot wait for you to see it!

Reminders:
1. Tours continue every Friday.  Please arrive between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. wearing long pants and hard shoes and you will be outfitted with a vest, eye protection and a hard hat for your brief tour of the interior.

2. The next Community Engagement Committee meeting will be held on Monday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the library. Topics will include the move into the new building and planning the grand opening. Hope to see many of you there.
