Lissette Bishins Named New Executive Director Of The Child & Family Network Centers

CFNCThe Child & Family Network Centers (CFNC), a leading non-profit organization providing no-cost pre-school and family services to nearly 200 families in Alexandria, announced today that Lissette S. Bishins has been named to the position of Executive Director.

Ms. Bishins, who has been a driving force in the community as Executive Director of the venerable Carpenter’s Shelter since 2010, will take the CFNC reins effective January 5, 2014.

“I have a strong passion for CFNC’s mission and I admire the organization’s ability to change the trajectory of families for the better,” Ms. Bishins explained. “I am excited for the opportunity to lead CFNC to achieve new, sustainable growth, as well as to help complete CFNC’s current capital campaign.”

Ms. Bishins has made her mark in Alexandria since moving to the Washington region in 2000. Her work improving every organization in which she has worked – most recently as the public face of Carpenter’s Shelter and the Alexandria Chapter of the American Red Cross – has earned her a reputation for her passion, tenacity, dedication and success in serving children, families and entire communities.

“Simply overjoyed,” said Steve Nearman, CFNC Board Chairman. “Lissette is a great fit for CFNC. She’s a solid manager, a compassionate listener and an admirable fundraiser with a compelling vision. She has everything we need to take CFNC to the next level and continue to move at-risk children off our vast waiting lists.”

Last year, Ms. Bishins was a finalist in the Washington Post Award for Excellence in Non-Profit Management. The previous year, she was a finalist in the Center for Non-Profit Advancement EXCEL AWARD.

We thank Lee Jackson, CFNC’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, who has served superbly as interim Executive Director as well as our able staff.
